How to use IMDb Pro (Internet Movie Database)

A perk about having Pro is that you can look up production companies, agents, and managers to see if they have contact information listed.

Add Yourself to a Project

Production Companies and studios will only list above the line crew and cast.

Often you will need to add yourself to a TV show/feature film.

Type in the name of the show into the IMDb search bar.

Click on the name of the show.

Scroll down to “See full cast.”

In the upper right, click “edit.”

Navigate to your department, click the drop-down menu on the right and click “Add 1 credit.”

Scroll to the bottom, click “Continue.”

Enter your name and click your profile if it comes up.
For episodic, select the season and episode(s) you worked on.

Select your “Occupation” or enter it in within the second blank box.

“Attribute” I leave blank.

Scroll to the bottom and click “Check these updates.”

If any boxes turn yellow, IMDb may need more clarification about your selections.

Click “Re-check these updates” until everything turns green, then click “Submit these updates.”

 

Edit Your Profile

Type in your name into IMDb’s search bar, click on your name to navigate to your profile.

Scroll down to Filmography, then on the right click “Edit.”

That’s where you can make any edits to your Filmography section.

Go back to your profile and click, “more on IMDb Pro.”

Within “Details,” click, “Edit.”

Add in whatever details you’d like, scroll to the bottom, and click “Save.”

To add an image, click “Add Image.”

A new pop-up window will appear, click “Add Image.”

Navigate to the file on your computer you’d like to add.

Click “Submit.”

Once you’re back on your profile, scroll down a bit, within the Contacts section on the left, click “Add contact info.”

Input your “Direct Contact Details.”

Scroll to the bottom and click “Submit.” Then close out of the pop-up window.

Click on the “About” tab, then “Edit about” on the right.

Click into the submenu options and add info as desired.

I navigated to “Official websites and reviews.”

Official Sites, “Add 1 item,” click “Continue.”

Enter your site name and a description.

Then click “Check these updates.”

If all looks good, then click, “Submit these updates.”

The next page will list a contribution number you can reference as IMDb reviews your contribution.

Click “Your Contribution History,” to check the status of current and previous submissions.

 

Go back to your profile, scroll to the bottom and click “Edit your page.”

Navigate to other tabs you’d like to add information to.

I navigate to “Video.” Click “Add video.”

On the next window, click “Browse,” and navigate to the file you’d like to upload. Click open.

Enter a video title, video description.

Select video type, maturity level, language, subtitles, make video private (yes or no), then click “Upload.”

 

Go back to your profile, scroll to the bottom and click “edit your page.”

Click Vanity URL

Enter your preferred profile URL.

Click “Save.”

Then close out of the pop-up window.

 

Add Your Project

Adding a New Title Form

Enter the title.

Select project type.

Select production status.

For “I am” select your appropriate title.

Click, “Check these updates.”

In the new window, select “Sub-Type.”

Enter the year the project was completed or if you’re in Prep and are unsure about when it will be done, enter “????”

Click “Check these updates.”

Next, you’ll need to enter some Mandatory Information.

Enter a URL and description

Basic identifying Info (3 items required)

I choose Country, Language, Color/Black & White, and Genre.

Enter the Director's name. Attribute “Directed by.”

 

Scroll to “Cast,” on the right drop-down menu select the number of people to add.

Click “Re-Check these updates.”

In the new window, enter the cast actor’s name, actor/actress, and character name.

Re-check these updates until everything turns green, then “Submit these updates.”

Congrats, you are listed on IMDb and have all your credits listed. Please reach out if I missed going over anything.
