“Baking Memories” is a film inspired by the relationship between me and my Mom. While sharing the tradition of baking morning bread together, a progressive daughter and traditional mother struggle to communicate with one another without hurting each other’s feelings.

💜 Stay tuned at 11:40 where my Mom comes on to share her thoughts on the film and greets YouTube. Welcome, Mom!

😮 We shot this film in 1 day during COVID-19 and had a cast and crew of 7 people.

👤 I cast my actors using Backstage

I like searching for talent on backstage because I can enter specific criteria to match what I’m looking for. As a Director, I am looking for a professional headshot and pictures that show a consistent look to ensure that’s how someone looks today. I’m also looking for video examples of an actor’s work. Be sure to vet your actors to ensure they are right for the role.

⭐️ The 2 actors I cast:

Karen Aruj

Jackie Mass

💻 Prior to filming, I scheduled a zoom rehearsal. I didn’t want the first time we met to be on the filming day. Meeting on zoom provided me and the actors an opportunity to get to know one another as well as go over the scene.

✍🏼 I always register my scripts at the Writer’s Guild of America (WGA) before sending them to anyone. Protect your IP.

📄 For Cast & Crew Deal Memos, I use the forms provided by Film Impact Georgia, in the Filmmaker Toolkit.

🥗 We also used Grubhub and individual lunches for our meal break. To gather lunch orders from a large number of people I recommend using Google Forms.

Check out this video to walk you through that process.

💡 Smallfoot Lighting - Atlanta’s Smart Lighting Package

⌚️ We saved so much time using this smart lighting setup. Our Director of Photography, Johnny Serrato, could control all the lights from his tablet. He could adjust the light's color temperature and intensity.
